About
Artist and graphic designer Abbey Jacobsen holds a Bachelor of Design from RMIT Melbourne, Australia (2008), with a steady career in branding and identity design. She resides in a small coastal town on the Bellarine Peninsula — Wadawurrung Land, Australia.
Interested in our [human] relationship with time, she creates soundscapes with her graphite drawings, exploring themes across music, rhythm, pattern and repetition — juxtaposed by the rise and fall of the tide — a place with infinite fluidity where all constructs of time move at a different pace.
“As a designer, I’m conditioned to prioritise things like data and deadlines. Although useful in a commercial world, these aspects don’t often attend to the heart. Art allows me to shift perspectives, embracing gentle ways of thinking and observing life without haste.
I hope to evolve my work in a manner that considers the viewer as well as the earth, offering a moment of pause.
Everything, in time.”
